Chemicals
Water can present a serious biological hazard if bacteria are not destroyed. It used to be possible to say that if chlorine or another sanitizer was present then there would be bo bacteria. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. Bacteria have "learned" to live in a chlorine environment. There are many reasons why this has happened, but one of the main causes is inadequate and infrequent chemical treatment.

Chemicals can be categorised into three main sections.

	Sanitisers
	Normally chlorine/bromine donors
	Balance Chemicals
	For adjusting the pH, total alkalinity and calcium hardness levels of the water
	Ancillary Chemicals
	Products for bringing the pool to "life", and giving the water that inviting sparkle
	Spa Chemicals
	Products especially designed for your spa
